Sewing Acts of Kindness

Sewing Acts of Kindness is part of NG activities where members use their sewing skills for community support. Some projects are done by individuals alone, others through organized sew-ins and sewing bees with other members. A sampling of recent sewing projects includes:

  • Comfort caps for cancer patients
  • Sewing Layettes with Love for the Maternal Health Center
  • Pillowcases for Camp Celebrate – a camp forĀ young burn patients at the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center.
  • Sewing and distributing masks/face coverings for health care workers, first responders, and nursing homes
  • Cancer port pillows for local hospitals
  • Breast cancer post-surgical items – “Ouch Pouches” and temporary prosthesis enclosures
  • Holiday gifts – dolls, doll clothes, mittens, and scarves for Helping Hands Mission
  • Bags for seniors fundraising to benefit Alzheimers research
  • Figit mats and aprons
  • Travel pillowcases and weighted blankets
  • Thanksgiving tote bags for local food pantry
  • Project Linus quilts
  • Pencil cases for students
  • Fabric, patterns, and sewing supplies for local high school Student Fashion Show
